ASI gives owners, contractors, architects, engineers, and designers one company to call when a project requires special inspection. ASI reviews the requested scope and jurisdiction, assigns a qualified special inspector, and coordinates the inspection record through reporting and closeout.

HOW ASI APPROACHES SPECIAL INSPECTION

Before confirming an assignment, ASI reviews the project address, jurisdiction, permit number, requested inspection type, approved plans, requested date and start time, and field contact information. This allows ASI to match the work with the appropriate special inspector.

The assigned special inspector evaluates the designated work against the approved plans, specifications, Statement of Special Inspections, applicable product information, and governing requirements. Each inspector remains responsible for that inspector’s observations and report authorship.

WHEN THE WORK DOES NOT CONFORM

The special inspector identifies and documents observed discrepancies and communicates them to the appropriate project parties. The contractor remains responsible for correcting the work. The registered design professional resolves design questions and provides required corrective direction; the building official retains authority over jurisdictional acceptance.
